| Tory-run West Berkshire Council has hired more traffic experts to tackle the looming gridlock predicted in the town centre, when the daytime car ban comes into force in the Market Place.
Traffic consultants WSP have been appointed to come up with a solution for the Bear Lane/Wharf roundabout, which is due for a sharp increase in rush-hour traffic when the Market Place is pedestrianised next Spring. The consultants will be working from the Atkins study – a report by another firm of consultants hired last year – but no date has been set for publication of the findings. |
