Andover Road speed cameras defaced
24th August 2004 10.30am

An as-yet unknown perpetrator has defaced the speed cameras in the Andover Road overnight.

Speed Cameras are deeply unpopular with motorists, most who feel that they are in place simply for revenue generation rather than for road safety as the government would suggest.

The message "Piggy Bank" has been professionally daubed onto the yellow backs of the cameras. Clearly this was a well planned operation.

This is not the first time cameras have been defaced; across the country there have been incidents varying from the covering of lenses to the entire camera being chopped down.

Update
Our roving reporter has spotted the same message on the camera on Hambridge Road. This is clearly a co-ordinated operation across the area - we will update you when we spot more defaced cameras.
