Old Bill stake out bridge
28th July 2004 15.28pm

Police were parked on the bridge just south of Junction 13 today monitoring traffic speeds through the temporary 40MPH speed restricted section of the A34.

According to the official Costain website for the road improvements, over 1000 drivers were prosecuted for speeding through the works in the month of May, and ask drivers to slow down and exercise caution.

The marked van was parked on the bridge facing northbound, although it was unclear whether they were monitoring oncoming southbound or northbound traffic.

It's likely that the van will be in place all day so drivers are urged to take extra notice of speed limits in force, to avoid additions to their driving licence.
