The online auction E-Bay has created a whole new marketplace for memorabilia. Just recently a collection of old postcards fetched nearly £1,000.00 with prices varying from £2.00 to nearly £18.00 each. The collection was found by a relative clearing the attic of a deceased parent. So often, many of these items are just binned because the true value is not realised.
Current items of Newbury memorabilia on E-Bay include a 1950’s half pint milk bottle from Sandleford Dairy (current price £7.70), a Newbury Air Festival programme from 1980 plus an AFC Newbury football shirt. A postcard of the old Regal cinema in Bartholomew Street, recently fetched £10.60. Other postcards of Newbury have attracted similar prices. Have a look through your loft tonight. That pile of dusty postcards could fill your wallet with £5.00 notes.
