More than half of Newbury's newest housing estate has been sold - four months before it’s finished.
Wimpey Homes has converted a field between the town and the bypass into 55 homes, but cannot build the flats and houses fast enough.
The Enborne Road estate has only 20 left for sale, ranging from £210,000 for a three bedroom, to £425,000 for a five bedroom home. Sales officials expect to have all homes sold before December.
The smaller ones back on the railway line, and the luxury homes back onto St Bartholomew’s rugby field, while a block of social housing flats have been built in the middle of the complex.
The site lies next to Enborne Hedges, where landowner Sutton Estates wants to build 750 homes between Newbury and the bypass. Local councillors have already sworn not to fill in the gap between the town and £100 millon bypass.
