I am glad that the cinema is opening in Newbury. I remember the days as a child my parents took me off to the old cinema down park way. With the opening of this cinema there will no more driving 20 miles to Basingstoke to take our kids to the cinema. Something for parents and kids to go to at last locally. Newbury is being modernised. The new cinema has taken twenty years to be built. How come in such a wealthy middle class town we are so far behind!!

Because the council needed the money and for the development to be in town (footfall has been in decline).  This wouldn't happen without a tax payer's subsidy.  This could have happened sooner and without the subsidy, but the council would have lost some topographic control.

Ooh good. Get user to post on the WBC intranet. After all, I heard that WBC had handed view a VIP list of 200 people! Sadly, they missed me off, so I'll have to sit in the Supreme Leader's seat. Hope he'll share his popcorn with me.

Very good!  Will we be able to book specific seats like we can at Festival Place?  I hope so - hate sitting at the front. Hate it so much I'd rather drive to Amazingstoke if we can't.
